11 Days Best of Uganda Safari

Your adventure begins as you land at Entebbe International Airport. You will be met by your safari guide who will transfer you to your hotel. Depending on your arrival time, you can explore Entebbe, visiting attractions such as the Uganda Wildlife Education Centre, the Botanical Gardens, or taking a boat ride on Lake Victoria.

Journey to the Mighty Murchison Fall After breakfast, you will start your journey northwards to Murchison Falls National Park. The drive will take approximately 5-6 hours, but the scenic views along the way make it worthwhile. En route, you will stop at the Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary for a chance to see rhinos in the wild. Upon arrival at the park, you will check into your lodge and relax before dinner.

Experience the Wildlife and Majestic Falls Begin your day with an early morning game drive on the northern bank of the Nile River. Murchison Falls is home to a variety of wildlife including elephants, lions, giraffes, buffaloes, and numerous antelope species. In the afternoon, enjoy a boat cruise to the base of Murchison Falls, where you can observe hippos, crocodiles, and an array of birdlife. The boat will stop a short distance from the base, giving you a spectacular view of the falls.

Encounter Primates in their Natural Habitat This morning, head to Budongo Forest for an exciting chimpanzee tracking experience. The forest is one of Uganda’s largest and offers a rich biodiversity. Your guide will help you locate a troop of chimpanzees and observe them as they go about their daily activities. In the afternoon, return to your lodge in Murchison Falls National Park and enjoy the evening at leisure.

Scenic Drive to the Primate Capital After breakfast, embark on a long but rewarding drive to Kibale Forest National Park, known as the primate capital of the world. The journey will take you through picturesque landscapes, tea plantations, and traditional Ugandan villages. Arrive at your lodge in the late afternoon, where you can relax and prepare for the next day’s activities.

Explore the Wonders of Kibale Today, you will have another opportunity to track chimpanzees in Kibale Forest. The park boasts one of the highest densities of primates in Africa, with 13 different species. After the morning tracking, enjoy a guided walk in the Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary. This community-run project is a haven for bird watchers and offers a chance to see a variety of bird species and primates.

From Forests to Savannah Leave Kibale behind as you make your way to Queen Elizabeth National Park. The park is renowned for its diverse ecosystems, including savannas, forests, and wetlands. Upon arrival, embark on an evening game drive in the Kasenyi Plains, where you can spot lions, elephants, and buffaloes. Check into your lodge and enjoy the stunning views of the park.

A Day of Wildlife Adventures Start the day with a game drive in the park’s northern sector. This area is known for its large herds of elephants and the famous tree-climbing lions of the Ishasha sector. In the afternoon, take a boat cruise on the Kazinga Channel, a natural waterway that connects Lake Edward and Lake George. The channel attracts a large concentration of wildlife, including hippos, crocodiles, and numerous bird species.

Journey to the Home of Mountain Gorillas After breakfast, set off for Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the most biologically diverse areas on earth. The park is famous for its population of mountain gorillas. The drive will take you through beautiful landscapes, including the scenic Ishasha sector, where you might spot tree-climbing lions. Arrive at your lodge in Bwindi and prepare for the gorilla tracking adventure the next day.

A Once-in-a-Lifetime Experience Today is the highlight of your safari – tracking mountain gorillas. After a briefing by the park rangers, you will be assigned a gorilla family to track. The trek through the dense forest can be challenging, but the experience of encountering these majestic creatures in their natural habitat is unforgettable. Spend an hour observing the gorillas before returning to your lodge to relax and reflect on this incredible experience.

Relaxation and Departure On your final day, transfer to Lake Bunyonyi, one of the most beautiful lakes in Uganda. Known for its serene waters and stunning landscapes, Lake Bunyonyi is a perfect place to unwind after the gorilla trek. Enjoy a boat ride on the lake, visit some of the 29 islands, or simply relax at your lodge. In the afternoon, you will be transferred back to Entebbe for your departure flight, marking the end of your memorable 11-days Uganda safari.
